Could I Get an Extended Warranty for Any Car?

I just bought an old used car, and I am wondering whether I could get an extended warranty for cars in order to help me out should something go wrong with it. Do they sell these for any car, or do you have to have a newer car in order to get them? I am wondering if anyone can tell me where I might be able to go to get a quote for this type of warranty so I can figure out whether or not it would be worth it for me to get this type of insurance, or whether I might as well just hope nothing goes wrong.
