Deck Stains Can Be Very Dark
I bought a house with a wood deck. The deck was stained with a very dark stain that is flaking off. The stain is so thick it looks like paint, but I was told that it was in fact a stain. I did not know deck stains came in such a dark color. I thought that a deck stain always let you see the grain in the wood. But either way, I want the old stain removed and I would like to have a transparent or a mostly clear stain put on the deck. What is the best way to remove the old stain?
